Nature in a suburban backyard

Oh, how adorable.
One night, I went to the deck around the pool and thought my cat was walking along the edge. I called, Blue, what are you doing and the racoon turned and looked and I knew it wasn't the cat!
Do you ever see disagreements among your visitors?
Oh yes there can be discussion, argument, and sometimes outright fights between raccoons. Though they always sound very rough there is seldom any real physical damage. The most 'fun' to see is a discussion between a skunk and a raccoon. The ones I have seen it's been the skunk trying to drive off a much bigger raccoon. The raccoon simply kept his back to the snapping skunk. They ended up eating side by side like good neighbours. (Thank goodness).
I love these photos. They bring back memories of our time in Memphis when we had a family of masked critters who visited nightly, helping themselves to our outdoor cats' food. The mom was shy, the babies were curious, and a large male that we figured must be dad would try to open the screen door.
I can hardly wait 'till momma Chloe brings her youngsters for a visit. They are always fun to watch and quite easy to make friends.
Even Kimmie might come back with her brood - time will tell.
