A Very Wild Rose

I have not seen either Chloe or Kimmie and her kits for the last three days. However the ‘newcomers’ have been showing up as regular as clockwork - and getting a little more used to me all the time. I think it’s time to give them names - how about Mutt and Jeff? Mutt being the larger one with the funny face - Jeff the one with the slight nick on his ear.

In the meantime Momma robin has a second family well on the way - and more flowers are blooming as others fade.

I have never seen a rose quite like this one. Is it thornless?

Silly me, enlared the picture and discovered it was not thornless but I believe it is a very old one too.

I don't know the history of this plant - it was here when I bought the place about seven years ago. It was much bigger and completely unkempt. Downright dangerous in fact! Nor were the flowers at all spectacular. I tried everything to get rid of it over the next three years - it kept coming back, but looking much better every time. though still dangerous - it has proven itself to be a survivor - it's here to stay! Talk about a bramble though...
